I went to NYC on Monday night for work - took Amtrak - and got to my hotel around 8pm. I stayed at the Mondrian SOHO, a BEAUTIFUL hotel in the SOHO neighborhood. It's an adorable boutique hotel, and the rooms are small, yet gorgeous. (everything was white, except for blue accents and a blue ceiling) The reason I was in NYC was that as part of my new position at Pandora (Creative Design Project Supervisor), I have to install new "Test" windows for 25 stores that we're calling our Flagship stores. NYC happens to have 2 new stores in SOHO that are part of this program. So, I was up early to visit the first store at 8:30am, and install their Valentine's Day windows. Unfortunately for myself and my coworker Joan, it was both snowing and brutally cold today. Another unfortunate factor? The window graphics had to be installed on the exterior of the windows!! So, literally every 30 minutes we'd have to stop and go inside to warm up and get the feeling back in our fingers. After 3 hours, we finished at the first store, and then walked to the 2nd store that thankfully is only about 6 blocks away. Also fortunate? This store's window is MUCH smaller.
So, we finished the 2nd store at 2pm, and went to lunch with the owner's "representative" and the Regional Manager. Immediately afterwards, I jumped into a cab and went to Penn Station and thankfully was able to change my train ticket to an earlier one - leaving at 4pm instead of at 6:45pm. Now, on a normal day - and if it had been warm - I'd have stayed later and shopped my heart out. But because of the fact that it didn't get above 20 degrees in a windy NYC, I was ready to get the hell out of there! See you again soon NYC! I Love New York. (only much more so when it's warm!)
